What’s in a name
The brand name Nobscot is based on ‘Nobscot Hill’, a mountain peak in Sudbury, Massachusetts, USA.
According to an article in the reputable New York Times, the history of the principles of customer relations and loyalty lies in the town of Sudbury, New Hampshire. That’s where a merchant first rewarded his customers with ‘copper tokens’ that could be exchanged for merchandise. The idea of attracting and retaining customers in this way dates back to 1793.
Nobscot Hill is thus ‘the best of the best’: the highest point of the place where a
customer relations program was first conceived, and a mountain top with a unique 360-degree view of the region.
On the one hand, this symbolises the fact that we too are aiming for the top, the best, the highest attainable. On the other hand, it refers to our 360° approach: a broad view of opportunities, attention to innovations and trends, solutions for customers from everywhere, a full-service approach, etc. Wisdom also says that ‘the higher you get, the nicer the view’.
